Convert Addon Domain to Stand-Alone Account — Step-by-Step Guide

Convert an Addon Domain to a Stand‑Alone Account

Overview

This tool lets you turn an existing addon domain into its own independent account. After the conversion, you gain control over that domain’s files, databases, FTP, email, and server access.

Important prerequisites before you begin:

  • You must have permission to rearrange accounts.
  • The original addon domain’s data remains on the source account. Ensure your server has at least three times the required disk space before conversion.
  • Back up the source account in advance.
  • Remove any subdomains of the addon domain first—conversion will fail otherwise.

Select the Addon Domain

Search by domain name or owner to locate the desired addon domain. Then click Convert beside it to configure conversion options.

Account Settings

  • Username: The system suggests one based on the domain name.
  • Contact Email (optional): Used for notifications.
  • Package (optional): Assign storage quotas and features.
  • Preserve Ownership: Keeps the new account under the same owner—requires full admin access.
